Clara
Barton once said, "Your children and your children's
children will need the Red Cross." Generations of area
residents have relied on the Greater Alleghenies Region of
the American Red Cross Blood Services to provide safe, reliable,
quality blood products and transfusion services. More importantly,
some generations live on because of the Red Cross.

It is only
through the help and support of area donors, sponsors and volunteers
that we are able to provide these crucial services to our community.
That's why we invite you to become part of the future in blood banking
and our new headquarters project.
The Greater
Alleghenies Region's new facility project is underway, with plans
calling for a 128,000-square-foot, two-story building. The facility
will allow for implementation of exciting new technologies, such
as pathogen inactivation, which presents the potential to render
blood products incapable of transmitting infectious disease.
Construction
of the Johnstown-based facility is a part of a national American
Red Cross ten-year Strategic Capital Improvement Plan (SCIP). The
budget for the new Greater Alleghenies Region facility project has
been set at $22.9 million.
