7/8/2002 - At its national headquarters in Washington, D.C., the American Red Cross announced that the Red Cross Board of Governors has elected Marsha “Marty” Johnson Evans to be the new President and CEO of the humanitarian organization effective August 5, 2002.

11/29/2002 - Officials of American Red Cross Blood Services, Greater Alleghenies Region, have signed a letter of intent to negotiate the purchase of a 13.71-acre Richland Township property for the region’s new headquarters facility. The property is located on JARI Drive in the Johnstown Business Park.

Southern Region (Georgia) takes precautionary measures with blood supply
1/31/2003 - On Thursday, January 30, the American Red Cross Blood Services, Southern Region asked its hospitals to voluntarily suspend use of certain blood units collected recently in Georgia and Northern Florida. This action is not a recall, but a precautionary measure taken in the best interest of patient safety after some blood collected was found to have white particles in it.
